Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer well-known for his distinct blend of soul gospel jazz R&B and R&B. Avery Sunshine has performed on Broadway as well as at various festivals across Europe. She has also performed at the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine has the name Denise White. Though she lives in Atlanta however, she comes from Chester Pennsylvania where she began music by performing and playing the piano in churches. She studied at Spellman College and began to learn the R&B style of Atlanta. She became the primary keyboardist at Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award-winning performer) was approached for a position as director of the choral section of Dreamgirls in Atlanta during the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine received national attention through her performances on four consecutive days during 2008's Democratic National Convention. She was invited to perform in the Obama administration's 2009 inauguration.
